NEXT Weather: Frost advisory and freeze warnings Tuesday night

MINNEAPOLIS – It’s not even October yet, but northern Minnesota got a taste of winter Tuesday morning when snowflakes fell in Ely and the Gunflint Trail.

Just a week ago, temperatures topped 90 degrees in parts of the state. But overnight, most Minnesotans will see the season’s first freeze.

The Twin Cities is under a frost advisory Tuesday night, with a freeze warning for some counties north of the metro and western Wisconsin.

Temperatures will drop into the mid-30s overnight, and widespread frost is likely by Wednesday morning, including in the Twin Cities.

The rest of Wednesday will be slightly warmer and sunny. A bonafide warming trend starts Thursday, with temps climbing into the 70s by Friday.

We’ll stay above average for the weekend and stay dry.
