MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Minneapolis’ annual summer celebration is returning after going virtual last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Aquatennial is scheduled for July 21-24, organizers announced late Monday. The four-day celebration will again feature the Torchlight Parade down Nicollet Mall and a fireworks show near the Stone Arch Bridge.
“Aquatennial is our Official Civic Celebration and a summer staple here in Minneapolis, and we are thrilled to return to celebrate together this year,” said Mayor Jacob Frey, in a statement.
During the Aquatennial, Minneapolitans and those visiting the City of Lakes will be able to enjoy pop-up shops, food, art, music, workout sessions, and water ski shows on the Mississippi River.
The Aquatennial is free and open to the public. Organizers say volunteers are needed to help with events.
